We may be divided by borders but we’re united in spirit . . . a spirit that spans our state line and brings us together as a proud people.
No matter which side we live on, we’re proud to call Kansas City home. So we made this flag as a unifying symbol of our love for KC.
White symbolizes the state line that gives KC our unique identity as a two-state city.
Red symbolizes KC as the heart of America and its residents who make it great.
Light blue represents the Kansas and Missouri rivers and the many fountains across KC.
Navy represents the great states of Kansas and Missouri that contain the KC region.

Bigger than a city, county or state.
And that’s what makes us KC.
A humble Midwestern town, centered in the Heart of America, Kansas Citians come from two states, fourteen counties, dozens of cities and hundreds of neighborhoods. We think that’s kinda cool.
KC pride is already here.
You can see it in our history, on our shirts and storefronts, and nearly everywhere around town. But what about our flags?
Other cities have already figured this out. But our most unifying KC flags are sports related (we love sports too), and KC is much bigger than a team.
Shouldn’t the local government make the flag? Well, that’s where things get a bit complicated. The spirit of KC extends far beyond the borders of the city itself, and its pride should not be held back by these borders.
Let it fly.
We believe a bottom-up, grassroots approach is the right way to introduce the KC flag. Since KC extends well beyond any one city (or state), we offer this flag to everyone who calls KC home.
We are happy to live in a united Kansas City, and proudly fly a symbol of our love for it.
